Actual Installation Performance Data

Location: San Jose, CA

Chiller plant includes 2 chillers, 3 cooling tower cells, and 2 condenser water pumps.  Plant load measurements were taken during cooler weather operations.  Chiller efficiency impacted by dirty condenser tubes.

Chillers were designed for low flow CW of 1.8 gpm/ton-rated and 15 °F temperature range.

Base data shows chiller operating with design entering CW temperature of 73.4 °F.   With a constant entering CW temperature the data as expected is more organized.

Installed (Operating with the CPO) data is scattered reflecting the varying WB and load conditions and the CW set point that ranges between 60 °F to 73.4 °F .

Notes:
  1. This CPO installation included the option to switch it off and revert to the original system control.  Therefore it was possible to take base data and install data within a few hours of each other, or at least during similar weather and load conditions.
  2. The plant is a microelectronics manufacturing facility that operates 24/7 and has significant clean room HVAC loads with close tolerances for humidity control.
